We provide high-quality PVD coatings and customised solutions for the domestic markets of flatware and cutlery, tapware, handles and door and window metal frames, as well as for the fashion, automotive, eyewear, pharmaceutical, firearms, lighting, and many other sectors.
With 11 PVD coating plants and 2 fully equipped systems for pre-treating and preparing base materials, Protim is a centre of excellence for vacuum coatings and one of the largest and most modern coating centres in Europe.
Our coating systems are built by Protec Surface Technologies, also part of the P&P Holding group, and thanks to this, we fully meet your every customisation needs and ensure you are always supported by expert technicians with in-depth knowledge of the equipment.
Our coating centre has been operating in the PVD coating market since 1996 under the name Protec Surface Technologies. For the first two years, both branches of what is now the P&P group operated under the same name. The growing demand for finishes and the steadily increasing number of clients led the owners to separate the equipment manufacturing division, which kept the name Protec Surface Technologies, from the contract coating service, which took on the name Protim.
Protim is born, a company dedicated exclusively to decorative PVD coating services.
Initially focused on the handle sector, where it offered only a brass-coloured finish, over time Protim developed a wide range of finishes and enter new markets. The first company to enter the flatware and tapware sectors. It brought innovation to these markets and today boasts collaborations with leading manufacturers in their respective sectors.
In 2019, both companies merged into P&P Holding, a world-class centre of excellence in the field of PVD and PECVD coatings.
The majority shareholder is a Club Deal made up of prominent entrepreneurs who aim to further grow
both companies internationally.
Emphasising the innovative spirit of both Protim, which provides contract coatings, and Protec, which manufactures systems, their goal is to bring our
Made in Italy expertise to a global level, while guaranteeing the highest quality standards.
We have chosen to represent our Group with this artwork depicting Plato.
The figure of Plato is indeed linked to the concept of supreme knowledge and continuous pursuit — values that have always been the mission of our Group.
The image represents the two souls of P&P graphically. On the left side, the blue lines symbolise the technical component related to Protec Surface Technologies, while the coloured part on the right represents Protim and the full range of colours it brings to the market.
Riello Investimenti Partners Sgr acquires 60% of the P&P Group. The remaining 40% of the capital will be retained by the current managers and operating shareholders.

On 15 December 2023, Riello Investimenti Sgr further strengthened its presence in the high-vacuum surface coating market.
Alongside Protec Surface Technologies and Protim, Arzuffi joined the group — a leading company specialised in designing and marketing metallisation and sputtering systems for the automotive and packaging industries, among others.
Together, the three companies form a major Italian centre of excellence in the PVD and PECVD industry.
