What is the PVD process?

Physical Vapor Deposition

PVD – which stands for Physical Vapour Deposition – refers to the technology used to deposit thin metal films on various types of substrates. The process takes place inside vacuum chambers, where the metals to be deposited – such as zirconium, chromium, and titanium – are vaporised.

Vacuum deposition of thin films

Metal ions, thanks to their kinetic energy and the potential difference applied to the object to be coated, are attracted to the surface of the items, where they condense and form the desired coating.

The finish is thus created through a physical process that not only gives the object properties superior to any chemical or electrochemical treatment, but also ensures a perfectly sustainable coating — reduced environmental impact, hypoallergenic, and 100% compatible with food contact.

Advantages of PVD coating

PVD coatings are particularly suitable for all innovative and technically advanced products that require high performance in terms of resistance to abrasion, scratching and corrosion.
